- Colours: Neon colours are made up using a combination of gas (blue or red) various
fluorescent powders and the use of coloured glass tubing. If you look at the colour
chart you will see how these colours are made up. Colours using coloured tubing
tend to be more expensive than clear tube with fluorescent coating only.
-
- Outdoor: Neon can be employed perfectly well indoors or out. Our outdoor transformers
are insulated to IP44 and we use the latest high performance silicone insulated HT
cables. The tubes themselves do not need protection above 2400mm from floor level
but you should take into account the delicate nature of the glass, and the possibility
of damage.
-
- Cables: The neon tubes must be connected to a transformer by HT cables . In turn
the tubes are connected in series to each other and back to the transformer. When
mounting a neon sign on a wall and it is impossible or difficult to pass cables through
the wall for a tidy finish you should consider mounting the whole sign on a backing
tray. The cables and sometimes even the transformers, can be completely concealed.
The tray can be finished to a colour of your choice to match or contrast the background
wall.
- Sketch: Wherever possible provide us with a sketch or drawing of the sign or display
like the one below.
